About Me

My name is Tara Sells.  I was born in San Francisco, California and lived there until I was 10 years old.  My family decided that California was getting too crowded and we moved to Idaho.  I remained there throughout high school and went to college at Eastern Oregon University in La Grande, Oregon where I played volleyball and received a bachelor’s degree in Multidisciplinary Studies (Elementary Education) with a minor in Physical Education.    After graduating, I got a job teaching Kindergarten and taught that for 3 years.  The next year I changed grade levels and taught First Grade and continue to do so.  I have worked at the same elementary school my entire teaching career (11 years) and I really enjoy it.  I live and teach in a small town in Idaho.  I am a wife and mother of three children who are 5, 3, and 1.  We live on the family farm where my husband and father-in-law farm together.  My life is busy to say the least.

I like to spend time with my family and friends.  I am a big sports fan and love to watch and play various sports.  My favorite sports to watch on t.v. are football and basketball, but also enjoy baseball and golf.  As I stated above, I played collegiate volleyball, but really haven’t played competitively since.  I coached volleyball and track before having my kids and would like to return to coaching when my kids get older.  I like to camp, hunt, and fish.  I also like to play games (any type really).

I am “comfortable” with technology and was searching for a way to integrate more technology into my classroom.  That’s when I came across the opportunity to get a master’s degree in Educational Technology through Boise State.  I am excited to learn more about technology integration, but also a little nervous because just the little work that I have done so far has all been new to me.  I felt a lot more “comfortable’ before starting these courses, however, I hope to catch on quickly.  I am optimistically hopeful that I can manage my time between classes, family, my career, and just life to be able to learn as much as I can and successfully earn my master’s.
